004; Dark

“Mommy?” Moaning slightly, Maddie lifted her head to blink at her son in a half dazed stupor.

“Danny?” She yawned. “It’s past your bedtime, sweetie. What’s the matter?”

“My nightlight went out.” Danny admitted, looking ashamed. “It’s too dark, Mommy…” Smiling slightly at the little boy’s fears, Maddie moved over to let him climb into her bed, cuddling him close and kissing him on the forehead.

Someday, Danny would outgrow this fear. Someday he would even outgrow needing her to soothe whatever fears he did have… But for now, Maddie was happy to help her boy chase away the dark…

Okay, I’m done making your teeth rot. Hey, it was either this or Danny-Meets-Dark-Mousy, people! Everyone else seemed to be doing the whole evilness and despair thing for this one, but honestly this was the first thing that came to mind for me.

Maddie rocks out loud. I love how she’s a ninth degree black belt and a major in parapsychology, and yet she always makes being a good mom her first and foremost job. That, and bailing Jack outta whatever mess he’s getting himself into this time…

…Drawing her sucks, though. I’ll admit that… (Expect more of her in the future because of this)
